Charity Training Programs Set to Kickoff for 2009 Event
Numerous Charity Options for P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona
By Dan Cruz/RNRAZ (7/22/08) With six months to train before the race, runners and walkers can receive expert coaching for the P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon & ½ Marathon - and raise money for a great cause. Over the past five years, P.F. Chang’s participants have raised over $25.7 million for various charities and causes through their commitment and participation at the annual road race.
“Training for a marathon can be a challenge, and finding the right training program is a great way to keep it fun and stay motivated,” said Dawn Reichert, the event’s general manager. “Official training programs provide participants with support, professional coaching and inspiration. We encourage interested runners to attend an informational meeting or kickoff party to get into the spirit of the race and sign up with a charity that will inspire them to train for a marathon or half marathon."
With over 20 causes and charities to choose from both locally and nationally, charity participants receive benefits including team support, camaraderie, exceptional coaching and travel to/from the race. Charity training programs also provide fundraising guidance and tools to help participants raise money for a meaningful cause. P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona is proud to collaborate with various charities and provide the opportunity for runners to reach out to members of the community who are in need. More information on the official charity training programs can be found at www.rnraz.com/training.html.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary of saving lives, Team in Training (TNT) is the signature fundraising program for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, providing coaching and training for walking or running a marathon or half-marathon. Attending a TNT informational meeting or kickoff party is the first step to the P.F. Chang’s finish line. (www.teamintraining.org)
The NF Endurance Team supports the Children’s Tumor Foundation, and provides participants with the opportunity to participate in team endurance sports to raise money for those suffering with Neurofibromatosis (NF). The organization raises money for research, promotes awareness of the disorder, and provides a network of caring and support for those in need. (www.ctf.org/marathon/)
