Ironman Kona

It takes tremendous commitment and determination to qualify for Kona. More than 60,000 triathletes try each year, but in 2012 more than than 2000 will earn right to race at the Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kona Hawaii.

In the 2012 Kona season, 1642 triathletes will earn Kona slots in one of 34 qualifying events. Additionally, 205 will win slots under a new lottery system, 85 pros will earn slots, and a few others will be provided to various sponsort, NBC, etc.[For more see Kona Qualifying Slots by Race 2011-2012]
