Each April, Ironman.com announces the lottery winners of Kona slots for the World Championship race in October. The approximate number of slots awarded by group: Domestic: 150 (see distribution by State chart); International: 50; Paratriathlete: 5. In 2011, 150 winners US winners came from 37 US States (compared to 33 states in 2010).

Allocation of international lottery winners spanned 17 countries.
