Ironman Coeur d'Alene 2013 Results Analysis

Ironman Coeur d'alene was the first race to implement the new SwimSmart self-seeding initiative, which led to a better swim experience than most had faced in previous mass-start Ironman events. More important, the initiative appears to have resulted in faster swim splits of 3% to 4%, compared to average times in 2010 to 2012.

And it seems that the swim time savings directly contributed to a faster average overall finish time of 13 hours, 14 minutes, compared to 13:17 in 2012. DNF's were also down, from 8% in 2012 to 6% in 2013.

We've taken the analysis to the next level, detailing average results by age division and illustrating comparisons between 2012 and 2013 results, below. For more, see Ironman Coeur d'Alene Compared with other Ironman Races: Results Analysis.
